Minimally invasive surgery
Minimally invasive surgery uses modern techniques, equipment, and technology that greatly reduce tissue damage, pain, and hospitalization and recovery time compared to conventional open surgery.
Dr. Montaño performs surgical procedures using various minimally invasive approaches, such as laparoscopy, in which small incisions are made in the abdomen to insert a camera and forceps; percutaneous surgery, in which a small puncture and incision are made to access the kidney area without the need for large incisions; and endoscopic surgery (endo-
urology) in which the approach is made through the urinary tract, without incisions, for surgery of the prostate, bladder, ureter and kidneys and a high-power laser is used to fragment
stones in the urinary tract without the need for open surgery.
